Simon XT - Adding Z-Wave Light Modules

Devices must be within 6 ft of the Simon XT when adding them to the network. If a device will not be within 6ft of the Simon XT in its permanent installed location, include it in the network either before permanently mounting the panel or before installing the device.

The following information will show you how to add your Z-Wave Light Module to your Simon XT. Before we continue, it's good to make sure your Z-wave network is clean and ready to properly add to your system. To do this, we have to delete the device from the network, this will work even though it has not been added to the panel yet. Click here for how to clean the network.

Follow the steps below to add a Z-Wave Light Module to the Simon XT...

To add the device, double click the button in the middle of the light or appliance module. (If there is no beep at the panel confirming successful enrollment of the device, try pressing the button again.)

Your Simon XT will beep and show, “Device # Added”.

Press "Status" 5 times.

After you have completed the steps above, you can relocate the Z-Wave Light Module to your desired location. Make sure it's within a maximum of 15ft from the Master Control Unit.

  • Supposedly I have a Simon XT although no name is on the controller I have.  My receipt states that it is, indeed, a Simon XT.Otherwise my controller, except for the GE & Simon XT names, looks exactly like the controller pictured above.  However in attempting to add a light module, I am able only to get to 'access codes'; cannot get to 'interactive services'. I need a little assistance

  • Hi Louis,

This is generally caused when the master or disarm code is used to enter programming. In order to access the necessary options to add a zwave device the programming or installer code is needed. More info to come in a separate email.

  • Wonderful.  Now added to controller.  In order to continue your help - 1) how do I program/turn light off & on using the controller? and 2) how do I add the light module to the LifeWatch app on my iPhone?  And thanks in advance

  • Hi Louis,

The * and # keys at the bottom of the keypad can be used to turn your lights on or off, respectively. You could potentially use the "light" button on a programmed keyfob to control these as well.

In order to control the device remotely from the Alarm.com app, you will need the appropriate service level. We will send these details to you over email.

  • Thanks a bunch for your help and guidance
