Simon XTi - Difference Between SAW and Crystal Wireless Sensors

SAW sensors typically use 1.5 Volt Alkaline batteries and usually have a battery life of 3 to 5 years

SAW sensors have a slightly different frequency and cannot be used on older ITI security systems

Crystal sensors typically use 3.6 Volt Lithium batteries and typically have a battery life of 7 to 8 years

Crystal sensors can be used on all Interlogix, GE and ITI security systems

  • If the "main" or significant difference between the two is the battery life, why is the SAW sensor available for sale?

Is the sensitivity different or range different ?

  • The SAW devices are a bit bigger but the range is pretty comparable.

These are in use by a vast majority of installing companies and are very popular.
