Qolsys IQ Panel - Programming A Door/Window Sensor

Start by pressing “Settings”

Enter your “Installer Code”, in this case I’m going to use the default which is “1111”

Select “Installation"

Select “Security Sensors”

Select “Auto Learn Sensor”

At this point, you’ll need to tamper your sensor. To do this, take your door/window sensor and open it with a flatblade screwdriver.

Once it's open, the IQ Panel will beep and ask if you want to add the device to your sensor list. Select “OK”

Here you will need to program the proper information for this device.

  • Sensor DL ID: Don't touch this option.
  • Sensor Type: Select “Door/Window”
  • Sensor Name: Select an appropriate name or create a "Custom Description"
  • Chime Type: This allows you to apply a specific sound to your device when it’s used.
  • Sensor Group: This is used to change the behavior of the device. You can choose “10” if you want an entry delay applied or choose “13” if you want no entry delay applied.
  • Voice Prompts: This allows you turn on or off the vocal chime.

  • How about a sensor group list?

  • These instructions made the process simple and speedy. The video is very clear and concise.

  • These instructions work but they do not tell you that you will have to have the LiveWatch Tech actually add the sensor a their site also--you can see if it is added by signing in to your LiveWatch account and looking at the sensor registration information.  If you don't do that they then alarm.com will be correct but the monitoring center will NOT actually get the alarm event...or as in my case LiveWatch had the sensor as a smoke detector when it was actually a door sensor...the fire department comes immediately if the alarm goes off; even if you cancel it!  Beware!

  • Hello John,

I apologize for the inconvenience. You will need to let us know as updating your sensors in the panel doesn't automatically update in the central station. We will need to do that manually to make sure that there are no errors when they are added in. As you said, in your case the zone from the panel that reported the alarm was a zone that was already set in the Central Station to be a fire zone. That is why we need to know when your zone list is updated so that we can get those straightened out and avoid false alarms.

If you have any questions or concerns let us know.

    Best Regards,

    The LiveWatch Team

  • My IQ panel doesn't show the Installation icon on the Settings screen, so I'm unable to add a sensor. Also, when I open the sensor it doesn't resemble the picture in these instructions.

  • Hello Benjamin,

Thank you for submitting your concern. If you are not using the installer code, you will not get the same results or see the same screen as in the instructions you received. The installer code you need to use is "1111". Click on "Settings", enter the installer code "1111", and now you should see the installation menu. Proceed from there and follow the rest of the instructions to add your sensor.
  • That worked, thanks!

  • HI, I need to add a new sensor since I'm getting a failure/malfunction error but when I use the installer code "1111" on "Settings" I get an invalid code!

  • I tried all combinations 1111,2222,3333,4321 etc, it does not work.

  • Question - is there a way to program the panel so that I get an alert on my cellphone anytime a specific door is opened? I'd like to track if my office door is opened when I'm out, whether the alarm is activated or not..

Also, can I set up alarm zones so that  certain authorized users only get access to some doors but not others when they disarm the system?

    Thanks

  • Good Morning!

Setting up system notifications is quick and simple. If the service plan you selected is Total Home, alarm.com will have notification options for most system events. Once logged into alarm.com, navigate to the notifications page, and customize the system events you wish to be notified for. If you have any further questions feel free to call us at 785-321-3103.

    Best Regards,

    Pascal

  • As soon as my contract expires I'll cancel. They don't let you have installer codes anymore and take that over and are never their to answer the phone. It's BS.

  • Good Afternoon Aaron,

I apologize for the issues you are having in reaching our support team, it is certainly not the way we do things. For security measures, we did change your installer code from the default code. However, you are still able to know this code. I would like to provide you with your code and to answer any further questions that you may have. Please reach out to me at pascal@livewatch.com or at 785-321-3335 and I will be glad to help!

    Best Regards,

    Pascal
