To record saved clips from video cameras that are powered by Alarm.com, recording rules must be set up for each video camera. To create video recording rules, it requires you to log into your Brinks Home Alarm.com portal.

Recording rule types

The type of recording rules you can create depends on your video camera model and what other devices are associated with your system. You can create camera-triggered or system-triggered recording rules. What's the difference?

  • Camera-triggered clips include:
    • Video motion detection
    • Wired input/output
  • System-triggered clips
    • Alarm
    • Sensor opened/closed
    • System armed/disarmed
    • Entry delay
    • Lock activity
    • Record Now button triggers
    • For Wi-Fi Doorbell Cameras, can have recording rules based on a doorbell call and doorbell motion detection.
    • Garage door opened or closed

To create a recording rule:

  1. Log into your Brinks Home Alarm.com portal.
  2. Click Video.

  4. Click + Add Rule.

  5. Click to select the type of rule to create.
  6. Enter a name for the recording rule.

  8. In Video Clip Recipients, click + Add Recipient if you want to receive notifications.
    1. Click to select the entries in the Address book to be notified, or click + New to add a new Address Book entry.

  • I keep getting a "Front Doorbell: Video "Camera-triggered"" push notification on my phone for motion events. For some reason, it thinks motion detection is a button press event which it is not. I have my notifications and rules both set to only give me a push notification on my phone for button press events, yet I still get motion events. I don't want motion event notifications. This Skybell camera is a POS and I'm regretting adding it to my system.
