Skybell Performance

  • The SkyBell HD Camera is a 1080p camera that broadcasts in 720p with ten (10) feet of full picture clarity. The 1080p camera maximizes the output for the 720p stream, so the picture quality is better than a 720p camera broadcasting at 720p. It broadcasts at 720p to reduce bandwidth and ensure stability.

  • It also has a full 180 degree viewing angle, allowing a viewing angle that is almost parallel to the device!  A wedge kit adds 15 degrees of angle.

  • The SkyBell HD also has a brilliant Full HD Color Night Vision.  This means that even in pitch black conditions, the video will remain in full color, and as bright as day!

  • The Frames Per Second, or FPS, of the SkyBell HD's video is 30 Frames.  This means that every second of video, there are 30 frames of video being transmitted in HD.  The better your Wi-Fi connection, the better the maximum FPS will be.

  • How about for the Skybell Trim? I have this one connected to my system and the video is very jerky and pixelated. I have well over 2mbps upload (averaging 5mbps) so my wifi should not be an issue. Is there a way to fix this?

  • My skybell does not detect and record motion unless its very close to the doorbell (16 inches) or the person actually rings the bell. How can I make it more sensitive so to detect motion thats 5 or 6 feet away ?

    To adjust the motion sensitivity on the SkyBell HD, start off by opening up the SkyBell app. Then tap on the Settings gear icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Select “Motion Detection” toward the bottom. If the motion detection isn’t turned on, tap on the toggle switch to the right to enable it.

    Below you can set the sensitivity for the motion detection, and your three choices are “High”, “Medium”, and “Low”.

    High: Detects someone walking by from up to ten feet away, with little detection when someone walks towards your door.
    Medium: Detects someone walking by from up to seven feet away, and detects someone walking up to the doorbell from three feet away.
    Low: Detects someone walking by from up to five feet away, and detects someone walking up to the doorbell from five feet away.

    In simpler terms, the lower the sensitivity is on your SkyBell HD, the less it detects people just walking by and more on people actually walking up to your door.

    Once you select a setting, hit “Save” up in the top-right corner of the screen.
