A step-by-step guide to fixing your location settings

It is important to remove Geo-Devices that are not active or currently in use on your account in order to avoid Geo-Service device malfunctions. Correcting a Geo-Service device malfunction is typically an easy solution. This guide will walk you through clearing the Geo-Service device malfunction trouble condition on your phone, as well as deleting an old device from your account that is no longer in use.

How to clear the Geo-Service device in malfunction trouble condition:

  1. Log into the Brinks Home™ Mobile App on the device or phone connected to your account
  2. Tap the ≡ icon
  3. Tap “Geo-Services”
  4. Tap the Geo-Services toggle switch to turn it off
  5. Log out of the app completely
  6. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
  7. Click “Settings”
  8. Click “Geo-Services”
  9. If your malfunctioning or not in use device is listed in Geo-Devices:
    • Select the desired device
    • Click the trash can icon to remove the device from your account
    • Click “Ok”
  10. While you’re still logged into Alarm.com’s customer website, open the Brinks Home app on the phone you want to have Geo-Services enabled on
  11. Tap the ≡ icon  
  12. Tap “Geo-Services”
  13. Tap the Geo-Services toggle to switch it back on
  14. Refresh the Geo-Services page on Alarm.com
  15. Make sure the device is now showing up in the Geo-Services device section

How to delete a Geo-Device from your account:

  1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website
  2. Select “Settings”
  3. Click “Geo-Services”
  4. Select the specific device you want to delete
  5. Click the trash can icon 
  6. Click “Ok”

How to disable a Geo-Device using the Brinks Home app:

  1. Log into the Brinks Home app
  2. Tap the ≡ icon
  3. Select “Geo-Services”
  4. Tap the Geo-Services toggle to switch to the left position, indicating that all Geo-Services are successfully disabled for the device

Note: completely removing a Geo-Device from your account can only be done using the Alarm.com customer website
