Today our monitoring station set off an alarm re a tornado watch/warning.  Are there any options to adjust when and how this type of alarm goes off?

  • Hello Randy,

Thank you for contacting Brinks Home. The "Weather Alerts" feature on your system is not programmable. The only thing that can be done is turning the feature on and off. All the other controls for this feature are automated. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  • On a Simon XT, you can acknowledge and clear the message by pressing and holding the “#” key for 10 seconds.

  • How do I turn off the weather alerts on my system altogether? Is there not a way to receive a more subtle phone notification? It's rather unnerving for me, my wife, and 3 small children to be woken up at 4am by the exact same siren as if an intruder is in our house...all because there is rain and lightning outside.

  • Hello Paul,

Thank you for your question. I am sorry about the disturbance the severe weather alerts caused. There are two ways this can be remedied. The first is something you can do at the IQ panel by following the steps below:

Press settings > 1111 > installation > Siren and Alarms > uncheck Severe weather siren warning

The second option is to call tech support, and ask them to disable severe weather alerts all together. Please give us a call if you have any other questions and we will be more than happy to answer them for you.

    Regards,
