Double sided tape has not worked very well
We have had really good success with the double sided tape, its an industrial grade tape and we rarely see any trouble with it The instances where we have seen trouble is when they are installed in a really humid environment, the surface has an unusual texture or the surface is dirty. We recommend cleaning the surface first with an alcohol swab, wait until the surface dries and then stick the sensor up. When you are placing the sensor make sure to use a good amount of pressure and hold it for a about 10 seconds before releasing it. Also make sure you are using enough tape, the surface of the sensor that is in contact with the wall generally needs to be covered as much as possible.
You do have other options, most of these we really don't recommend because if you ever have to take the sensor down its going to bring paint or wood with it...or it wont come down unless you break it. You could use gorilla glue, silicone and different adhesives like that.
I hope this helps!
Kelly, do you sell the same high grade double sided sticky stuff separately? I am about to move house and will be taking my Simon XT with me so I am looking for a way to re-mount the sensors.
We do sell a commercial grade double sided tape, it is available on our website if you would like to check it out. This is a pretty common item and you might be able to find it locally as well.
