How do I turn off the alarm with my phone?

I have the newest simon xt  ver 1.4. connected to my home land line. When I trigger the alarm it calls my cell phone number (iphone4) and says "Press Star For Alarm" I do that and the calls stop coming, but the alarm keeps on sounding. Is there a setting to control the system from my phone so I can shut it off?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Brinks Home Security. The first thing I would try is change a setting on your iPhone. New cell phones use half tones when you press buttons instead of full tones. The panel will require full tones for it to respond to your buttons presses on your phone. I am not sure how you set it to full tone on that particular phone but if you contact Apple they should be able to tell you. Then I would also check to make sure all your setting are correct at the panel. To double check the settings in your panels please go to this link

  • Hi Dusin Thanks for your help! The unit will call my cell phone and it accepts my input of pressing "Star"(*) so I figure it  understands the phone key responses? I just don't know what I need to punch in to shut off the alarm?  It is frustrating reading the GE Simon manual and all the "call your installer" instead of giving you the DYI info we need. There could be a setting I have wrong, but there is no info about what the phone option settings mean. I am so thankful for Brinks Home Security you have been a tremendous help and I have bought several additional items because I do appreciate all your help. I will try Apple but thinking that's not it? Any other ideas?

    Thanks Hank
