Is there a way for the motion chime to be heard through the Simon XTi Wireless Touchscreen?

I have a driveway motion sensor (Resolution Products RE104 GE Compatible Driveway Sensor) watching my driveway with sensor group 25.   What I want to happen is when motion is noticed, I get a chime notification on both the Simon XTi control box and the Simon XTi Wireless Touchscreen.   I get the notification on my control box but not my touch screen.   The control box has a "motion chime" "on or off" choice.   It is set for  "on".   I see no "motion control" settings to adjust on the Touchscreen.   Is there a way for the motion chime to be heard through the Simon XTi wireless touchscreen?

  • Hi Eric,

Great question, this is possible with the Simon XTi system but there are a couple things set up differently then your standard chime. First the motion sensor must be set up in group 43, when a sensor is in group 25 or 40 it will trigger a chime on the panel but not on the touchpad due to the type of chime it set to trigger. The group 43 chime is 1 standard beep, but it is the only way to trigger a chime only alert on the touchpad with a motion sensor.

Make sure you have chime set to ''on'' on the touchpad, you will not have the option to turn chime to ''on'' on the main control panel like you normally do.

I hope this help you out, if you have any further questions please let us know. Have a great day!

  • Thanks - that fits my needs fine.   Really like this system!

Interesting learning.   I initially thought that unless I was ready and listening for the beeps, I wouldn't distinguish the single beep of the group 43 chime from the double beep you get when a door is opened in the chime mode.  However, we almost always notice the difference and of course can easily check the screen to see what beeped if we didn't hear it very well.

Also useful to know is that when you acknowledge the group 43 chime on the master control box, it clears.   However clearing the master does not clear the touchpad.   User must go clear that separately if it's important for it to be cleared.

    Thanks for all the help!
