Where is the best placement for a glass break detector? On an opposing wall facing the door which is 17 feet away or on the ceiling in middle of the room? The instructions say to put it on an opposing wall but some of the manufacturer videos mention placing them on the ceiling in middle of the room.
Glass Break Detector Placement

Mari,
The glassbreak detector can go on either the opposite facing wall or the ceiling in the same room as the windows you are protecting. It does not matter which method you use, wall or ceiling, as long as the sensor is located within 20 feet of the windows you are trying to protect.
Alot of times the sensor will be mounted on the ceiling so that it can give 360 degree coverage but if you don't have windows on multiple walls to cover and the opposite wall is close enough then you are free to mount it on the wall.
Let us know if you need anything else, have a great day!
I'm not sure if this applies to all current glassbreak detectors, but with my Honeywell 5800 series glassbreaks, I was able to mount them directly above the main windows in my living and dining rooms.
