Simon XT door sensor isn't tripping.

I have sensor that should trip as soon as the door opens. However, nothing is happening when the door is opened and the alarm is on. I am not getting a low battery message but when I open the sensor box, I am getting a tampered signal/message. Is it still possible that the battery needs to be replaced or what other issue could I be having?

  •     If your sensor is not setting off the alarm but you are still getting a tamper message when you open the sensor case, then the battery should be fine. A tamper means that the panel is getting a message from the sensor that someone has removed the cover; if the battery were low the panel would give you a low battery message for that particular sensor. This sounds like there might be a possible mounting issue with the sensor. To verify that the sensor is working, bring it directly in front of the panel and put the two pieces together with the arrows on the two pieces lined up. Then pull them apart. The panel should have a status light come on or display a fault on the screen for that sensor. If it does not, then the sensor may need to be programmed into the system. You will need to refer to the installation manual for your system for instructions on how to do this. If the sensor is already programmed into the system, try deleting it and relearning it into the system. If it still does not work, most likely it is defective and will need to be replaced.

  • It may also have to do with what sensor group you have it in.  when you program/learn the sensor you need to give it the proper sensor group.  entry/exit doors are typically in group 10 that use the standard entry/exit delay time you have programmed in.  If you want the alarm to sound as soon as the door is opened (no delay so you can get to the panel to disarm the system) then use group 13.    - you can see the full list on table 4 of the install manual found here:
