Nest integrations with Alarm.com

How much functionality does a Nest thermostat have when connected to my Alarm.com system?  It's currently the only wifi thermostat supported, so I am curious what functions and features are available on Alarm.com versus the Nest platform and app.

  • Hi Jeremy,

In regards to Nest, it does integrate with Alarm.com, but with limited functionality.
It will be limited to the following:
    • Current target temperature control
    • Current mode control (Heat, Cool)
    • Scene thermostat control including (temperature control, mode control, fan control)
Many of the advanced features are not not available (like scheduling temperatures).
Those are available through the nest app, but not integrated with Alarm.com.

  • Shay, does that mean that if I had a Nest, I could have it controlled with "Home" or "Away scenes as the triggers to raise or lower then house temperature?  Could I schedule time of day triggers as well?

  • You would have to go through the Nest app interface for those features.

  • Hi Ameya,

To successfully add your Nest Thermostats, you'll need to login to your Alarm.com account.

Once you log in, click on Settings, Devices, and Nest Thermostat Integration.

  • I logged into the desktop Alarm.com website, then clicked on Settings, Devices and Nest Thermostat Integration wasn't shown as an option. Do I need to do something to get that option enabled?
